Santo Tomas' has a "hospital" which is basically
a birthing center. Built by a German parish , the
hospital struggles to retain doctors and has no
surgeons. There are no procedures performed
or basic medical care available. Midwives have
been added along with prenatal education and
the infant mortality rate has been cut from
300/1,000 to 75/1,000. St. Albert the Great is
focusing on bringing basic medical care and
health education to the area.

Mission volunteers stayed in local hotels in Santo
Tomas'. One day was spent attending to
residence in Santo Tomas'. Three days were
spent travelling to outlying villages where people
had no transportation. These outposts serviced
people who had very little health care, if ever.
